LAKESHORE PARK RIVER TRAIL WOODLAND MARSH - KNOXVILLE, TN
This project demonstrates how management of invasive exotic plants over time allows for proliferation of ecologically diverse native species adapted to unique site conditions found here.
The long-term goal is to create a beautiful, biodiverse, resilient landscape around the boardwalk to serve as a demonstration of potential improvements throughout the park & region.
Since beginning invasive removal in 2017 in partnership with the Lakeshore Park Conservancy, select areas of the site are now ready for initial planting this fall (2021). Monitoring, management, and additional planting efforts will be ongoing for the next few years so please check back for updates.
